Mr Donnie Hallman of Deersprings Nursery, South Carolina, USA introduced three exceptional new cultivars for 2005, amongst which was Canna 'Solar Flare''. Described by Mr Hallman as, "Flowers are gold with streaks and swirls of rich orange-red. Foliage is a very dark bronze to brown. This is a stunning color in the garden." Mr Hallman stated that, "This canna really gets peoples attention. I don't know what else to say about this canna other than it's stunning and very limited. Fertile both ways. But not easy. Grows 4' Tall."
