Spring weather forecast

For those in Europe wondering when they will be able to plant their Cannas outside, maybe the Met Office forecast for the remainder of spring, i.e. until the end of May, will help.

Rainfall

For the UK and much of northern Europe precipitation is likely to be average or below average.

In contrast, average or above-average rainfall is likely over southern Europe and the central Mediterranean.

Sunshine

For the UK and western Europe mean temperatures for the rest of spring are likely to be either near or below average.

In contrast, mean temperatures are likely to be near average or above average over much of eastern Europe.

An update to the spring forecast will be issued by 11 a.m. on 23 April 2009.
